Junior Game Designer

Remote (Canada preferred)

We're looking for a creative and detail-oriented Junior Game Designer to join our team! This is a hybrid role: part game designer, part community manager, and part hands-on manual testing. You’ll help bring game content to life, assist with video editing and LiveOps, chat directly with our user base, and make sure the game feels cool, exciting, and worth coming back to.

This role is perfect for someone who’s comfortable hopping between Unity and YouTube, spreadsheets and game tests, memes and game balance discussions.

What You’ll Do

  • Help design and build LiveOps events that are fresh, fun, and worth logging in for
  • Edit short gameplay videos and meme edits (for in-game, marketing, or social use)
  • Assist with content pipelines (designing and balancing new levels, pet abilities, etc.)
  • Source and tweak sound effects and visual effects to enhance the player experience
  • Playtest and give feedback from a kid’s-eye view and a designer’s brain
  • Work with the marketing team to cook up content ideas and edit videos
  • Execute test plans across web and mobile builds; log clear repro steps & videos.
  • Smoke-test new content pipelines (levels, events, economies) before release.
  • Verify fixes in regression passes; flag edge-case issues early.
  • Keep simple test-case spreadsheets up-to-date and help triage Jira/Linear tickets.
  • Partner with the QA Team on coverage gaps.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience with Unity (comfortable with prefabs, timelines, etc.)
  • Basic video editing skills (e.g. Camtasia, Wondershare Filmora, or similar)
  • A knack for choosing and editing sound effects and visual effects that enhance play
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets (Google Sheets, formulas, conditional formatting)
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail (written and verbal)
  • A sense of what makes something genuinely fun, not just functional

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with YouTube content creation
  • Insight into Gen Alpha trends, kid-friendly aesthetics, and what’s "cringe" vs cool
  • Understanding of game economies (rewards, pacing, motivation)
  • Familiarity with Kanban and Agile
  • Experience in community management or interacting with younger player bases online
  • Interest or experience with educational games, MMOs, or digital play platforms for kids

Extra Traits We Value

  • Comfortable wearing a few hats and switching gears
  • Excited to learn and grow with a small, mission-driven team where your ideas matter
  • Not afraid to fail fast, and polish what shines
  • Passionate about making games that feel smart, social, and just a little weird

To Apply, Send Us an email at contact@boddlelearning.com and include..

  • Your resume
  • Portfolio (videos, games, mockups, docs, anything you’ve worked on)
  • A short note about what games you loved as a kid, and what inspires you now
