Technical Leadership at Boddle Learning

Tulsa, OK or Remote

Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on, strategic Head of Engineering to lead the tech vision and  execution behind building Gen Alpha’s platform for learning and play. This is a key leadership role for  someone who’s excited about game development, scaling systems, and growing strong engineering  teams.  You’ll help shape fun, meaningful, and reliable experiences across both our game and web platforms— for millions of kids, teachers, and parents. If you're passionate about education, games, and building  systems that make a real difference, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

Technical Vision & Leadership

  • Own and evolve the company’s technical roadmap as we scale our product and platform
  • Set the tech direction across the full stack—covering Unity game systems, backend services,  internal tools, and teacher/parent web platforms
  • Make thoughtful decisions around technical tradeoffs, focusing on long-term scalability,  performance, and quality
  • Lead infrastructure for game development and LiveOps—including tooling, event systems, and  smooth content releases

Team Building & Management

  • Lead and mentor a strong team across Unity, backend (Java/AWS currently), and web platform  (Rails)
  • Build a team culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Hire and grow great talent—especially in gameplay systems, platform tools, and live game operations

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Operations to bring educational and gameplay ideas to  life
  • Help plan and guide regular sprints, game updates, LiveOps events, and feature rollouts
  • Ensure we follow best practices for privacy, security, and compliance (especially in education)

Platform Architecture & Infrastructure

  • Lead technical decisions around our Unity game architecture, backend microservices  (Java/AWS currently), and teacher/parent web stack (Rails)
  • Oversee in-game analytics, A/B testing systems, and LiveOps tools
  • Make sure our systems are fast, reliable, and built to handle millions of users

Innovation & Emerging Tech

  • Explore new tech and tools to improve gameplay, personalization, learning support, or content  delivery
  • Stay up to date with technology trends in gaming and edtech for new features

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ in a senior leadership role
  • Experience launching and managing live games or platforms with frequent content updates
  • Success leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments
  • Strong background in scalable systems, AWS/cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD
  • Great communicator who can work well with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Excitement about building playful, effective, and educational products for kids

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Unity and multiplayer or LiveOps systems
  • Familiarity with A/B testing, in-game economy tuning, or content pipelines
  • Knowledge of education privacy standards like FERPA and COPPA
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS), edtech tools, or assessments

Why Join Boddle?

  • Make a real impact on how millions of kids learn and stay motivated
  • Take ownership in a fast-moving, creative environment where your work matters
  • Work on a product that combines games, education, AI, and live events
  • Competitive salary and stock options
  • Flexible remote work, and a supportive, mission-driven culture
