16 Classroom Horror Stories Our Teachers Will Never Forget

When teachers say they've seen it all, they mean it. We asked our teachers to share their most chaotic moments on the job, and they delivered. These are real stories from real classrooms.
(Fair warning: bodily fluids make more than one appearance. You've been warned.)
1. "When a student put chewing gum in his hairy armpit because he didn't want to throw it away."
2. "I had a child who ended up having a micro seizure and peeing all over my room. I threw my water down on the floor to mask her mess and the kids never found out she had an accident and thought I was unhinged."
3. "A student ignored warnings and put a paperclip into an electrical socket, causing a flaming ember to fly across the room, shocking two students, and blacking out the entire school."
4. "The entire elementary school was outside and the photographer was on the roof capturing everyone for the school's 50th anniversary. Two of my 4th grade boys got into a fist fight and the music teacher had to break it up. The photographer captured it all!!"
5. "During a fire drill, half my class thought it was recess, one student tried to bring their snack, and another insisted on lining up with the wrong class. By the time we got outside, I had 90% of my students and 100% confusion."
6. "I once had a child in 3rd grade poop their pants because they didn't want to stand up and let their classmates see that they were wearing their little sister's socks."
7. "Someone broke into my classroom and sprayed the fire extinguisher everywhere. We had to hold class in the library because of the chemicals."
8. "In my first year of teaching, I had a class that was super chatty and my behavior management wasn't strong. I was reprimanding my class and one of them told us we were late for special. Well, I dropped a curse word and they all were shocked. I started to cry in front of them and they all felt so bad. I was grateful I never got in trouble."
9. "A kid went up on a zip line during a field trip. He had no waiver and no parent, but somehow talked his way up there. We watched him safely swing across and come down. Other kids wanted to know why they couldn't and he did!"
10. "I had a non-verbal student who used to strip naked and throw his clothes and shoes at me."
11. "LISTEN: It was kindergarten, it was 85 degrees outside, it was spaghetti day in the cafeteria, and it was picture day... and pictures were AFTER lunch and recess."
12. "A student took a dry erase marker into the bathroom and wrote the f word on the wall for everyone to see. It wasn't until the END of the day that someone told me about it!"
13. "I once had a student go on a random biting spree. Safe to say, that wasn't in the lesson plans."
14. “YouTube ads popping up... need I say more? Nothing like an ad with limited clothing on the actor/actress in the commercial."”
15. "Puke-A-Geddon! I had a student throw up, and that caused a series of chain-reactions where we had the puke EVERYWHERE! Fun times..."
16. "One of the children saw a mouse in our classroom, and we all started screaming and standing on our chairs (yes, I did too)."
If you've made it this far, you deserve a long weekend.
Thank you to every teacher who shared their story. Solidarity has never looked so chaotic, and we're so glad to have you in our community.
